DRT – Tourist Regional Delegations

The DRTs report directly to the minister in charge of tourism and act as representatives of the central administration. Their main objective is to monitor the enforcement of regulations. They are also involved in the development and equipment of tourist facilities. Their permanent mission is to inform and to act as a liaison between the central administration and regional authorities.

CRT - Comités Régionaux du Tourisme

CRT – Tourist Regional Committees

Tourist Regional Committees (CRT) are more often than not associations whose mission is to promote tourism in the French regions, both in France and abroad. Financing of these organisations is almost exclusively provided by the Regional Councils.

CRTs provide French and foreign tourists with local tourist information and advice by means of brochures, magazines, internet sites and sometimes information desks.

Other missions are executed at varying levels, for example economic surveillance of the tourist sector, regional tourist patterns and the organisation of professionals, channels and jobs within the tourist industry.

CRTs are grouped within the National Federation of Regional Committees for Tourism (FNCRT).

FROTSI - Fédérations Régionales des Offices de Tourisme et Syndicats d'Initiative

FROTSI – Regional Federation of Tourist Offices and Tourist Information Centres

Regional federations are established according to regional administrations boundaries. They group together departmental associations and act as a relay for the national federation. On a regional level, their role is to provide representation before local authorities and to coordinate network activities with tourist organisations in the region.

Regional federations are in charge of the network of tourist offices and tourist information centres. They also propose their own regional tourism policies, in consultation with the Tourist Regional Committees and in collaboration with presidents from the Departmental Alliance of Tourist Offices and Tourist Information Centres (UDOTSI).

They are especially active in the field of staff training and supply the authorities with a constant flow of information.
